Drinking Enough Water Can Help You Lose Weight!
- Drinking chilled or cold water will produce a slight thermogenic effect and therefore speed up your body’s metabolism.
- Drinking adequate amounts of water will ensure that toxins are quickly and routinely flushed out of your body. These toxins can be a cause of unnecessary body weight.
- Proper consumption of water will in-fact help facilitate proper bowel movements. And therefore again remove unnecessary body weight.
- The human body has a tendency to hold onto those nutrients that we are lacking and store them. Therefore one main cause of water retention is actually dehydration. Yes you read that right! Not drinking enough water can cause your body to retain whatever water it has and cause an increase in excess water weight and bloating.
- One of the biggest problems with dehydration is that it decreases blood volume. Therefore the body cannot efficiently transport oxygen, or any nutrients to the cells. Furthermore if you are dehydrated your body will have a hard time extracting all the necessary nutrients from the foods you eat and coincidently you will never feel satisfied and energetic after eating a meal thus prompting more and more overeating.
Guidelines
Here is a basic guideline for the minimum daily consumption of water. Notice: this is a minimum guideline. With exercise, heat or humidity increases you should boost your consumption accordingly. One easy suggestion for minimum daily water intake is to take your body weight divide by two and drink that in oz. For example a 120 lb female would need to drink a minimum of 60 oz. of water. Or a 200 lb male would need to drink a minimum of 100 oz. of water. Again these suggestions do not take into account heat, exercise, humidity, stress or any other factors where an increase in water is necessary.
Tips to ensure you drink enough water:
- Carry a water bottle with you at all times. This will help to instill good habits.
- Drink small amounts of chilled or cold water all throughout the day. Proper absorption will occur by doing this.
- Use your water bottle as a guide every day. For example that same 120 lb female would need 3 20 oz. bottles to fill her daily minimum requirement.
- At the least drink filtered water, purified water, or even bottled water. Enjoying the taste of the water is important. This will ensure more frequent and total consumption. Overall one of the biggest complaints among consumers is that they don’t like the “taste” of water. Listen up folks pure water doesn’t have a taste! But water laden with chemicals, pesticides, and heavy minerals does. So do yourself a favor and drink lots of clean pure water just as Mother Nature intended.
